These Pigeon Comics About ‘The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’ Are So Hilarious That You’ll Die Laughing

Ever heard of ‘The Killers?’

No, I am not talking about serial killers. Because let’s be honest everyone knows about those. However, today we are going to talk about the band named ‘The Killers’. How original right? Well, putting aside their name, their music is actually pretty good if I say so myself.

Why don’t we first take a look as to who ‘The Killers’ are actually. Well the Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2001 by members Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards, bass) and Dave Keuning (lead guitar, backing vocals). Mark Stoermer (bass, rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion) would complete the current lineup of the band in 2002. The band’s name is derived from a logo on the bass drum of a fictitious band portrayed in the music video for the New Order song “Crystal”.

The band has released five consecutive chart-topping studio albums: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam’s Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012) and Wonderful Wonderful (2017). They have also released a B-sides and rarities compilation, Sawdust (2007); a live album, Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009); a greatest-hits album, Direct Hits (2013); and a Christmas compilation, Don’t Waste Your Wishes (2016).

The Killers are seen as one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century, and the most successful act to ever emerge from Nevada. They achieved worldwide success as a live band, performing in over 50 countries and on six continents, headlining venues such as Madison Square Garden and Wembley Stadium.

Another one of their very famous songs is called ‘Mr. Brightside’. Why are we talking about that song you ask? Well, One very talented artists tried to illustrate the song in pigeon form. This talented artist is Christian M. McGowan.

His description says it all.

Energetic, versatile, adaptive, art making machine.

Loves animals, robots, animation, video games, and the Muppets.

Drawing and Painting Graduate of University of North Texas.

Draws comics starring funny pigeons.

So you can imagine why he decided to illustrate this particular song because it turned out hilarious.

“Mr. Brightside” is the first single released by American rock band The Killers. It was released as the band’s debut single and is featured on their debut studio album Hot Fuss (2004). Written by band members Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning, this was one of the first songs the Killers ever wrote

Following are the lyrics to the whole song.

Coming out of my cage
And I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head
But she’s touching his chest
Now, he takes off her dress
Now, letting me go
I just can’t look its killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it’s just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
Cause I’m Mr Brightside
I’m coming out of my cage
And I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I’m falling asleep
And she’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And she’s taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it’s all in my head
But she’s touching his chest
Now, he takes off her dress
Now, letting me go
‘Cause I just can’t look its killing me
And taking control
Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibi
But it’s just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
‘Cause I’m Mr Brightside
I never
I never
I never
I never

And so the song starts out with a bang.

I have literally no idea how it ended up like this either.

I can see that it is all going downhill from here.

I think I am starting to have whiplash from all the changing emotions.

This is making me depressed if I am honest.

The artist really did a fantastic job illustrating the song.

Because this is exactly how I imagined it.

I imagined that pigeons would be singing this iconic song.

So what are your thoughts on these hilarious illustrations? Do you think the artist did a good job illustrating the song or did he leave something? Maybe the pigeons needed more emotions? Or maybe they weren’t passionate enough.

Whatever the reason it is if you think these comics are less than perfect. Comment down below and let us know.
