Competent employees work while less-competent employees try to outplay the competent ones.
We all have that one employee at our jobs who knows how to do his work. He lets his work speak for himself and then we have that one employee who is jealous AF. Who knows nothing but tries to be over-smart. Never underestimate your seniors because they know more than you. Here we have a story of an employee who did his job with full honesty, never used any shortcuts for promotion. OP had a jealous coworker who had his eyes on his position and used to tell him jokingly that he would take his job. OP was on leave for a week and his jealous coworker did what he always wanted to do. He took OP’s spot. When OP came back to his job he was told by his boss to follow his coworker’s instructions from now on. 1. OP’s job title is “rigger” and his role is overseeing anything that is lifted with a crane.
2. Back story: OP was put in charge of all rigging after 6 months of joining. Another Millwright joined the crew but he was prone to making mistakes.

OP was upset about losing his position and he knew he was better at rigging than Larry. Well, OP kept his calm at his job and did what his boss told him to do.
