What if some superheroes were pin-up models?
That is the sort of alternative reality I can get behind. I mean female superheroes are drawn in all sorts of styles all the time. And while male superheroes usually get the same treatment, it is different in a way that one doesn’t usually see them striking pin-up poses and wearing next to nothing. This might not be to everyone’s taste but who doesn’t like to see good looking men as pin-up models?
Because that is exactly what we are going to look at. While I can’t imagine Robert Downey Jr actually doing something like this, it still is quite fun to see the illustrations. And ignoring the actual subject of the illustrations, I have to admit that the drawing style is absolutely gorgeous. And we have to thank David Talaski-Brown for his amazing work. Following are all the superheroes the artist has chosen in next to nothing for your eyes to feast upon.
So scroll below to take a look.
#1 The fish are quite cheeky to mess with Aquaman.
#2 Thor has the right way to hide his butt.
#3 This is something that iron Man would definitely do.
#4 It seems that Captain America had a lot of fun the night before.
#5 Bucky has never looked this good before.
Comics and superhero movies were both activities my husband and I did together when we first started dating, so they’ve become a significant part of our relationship. Even when they aren’t good, they’re an event that we always look forward to. I was going to a table at my first convention and I felt like I had nothing to sell that people would want to buy. I had an idea of illustrating famous superheroes in the pinup girls style akin to Elvgren and Vargas.
What I love about vintage pinup drawings, and what I think makes them appealing is that it walks the line between erotica and comedy. It’s sexy enough to make you blush and ridiculous enough to not take it seriously. Basically, erotica you can hang on your walls and still have mom over. There are a lot of us. There’s always a plethora of art depicting scantily clad women at every other convention booth, so why not give some of the MCU’s hottest hunks the same treatment? It only seems fair, right?
After that, I started making ones I would get frequent requests for like Loki and Bucky. I most recently stepped out of the MCU and took on Momoa’s Aquaman because how couldn’t I? I mean, look at him. I’m not sure which one I’ll do next. I have ideas for a few from both Marvel and DC. Maybe some from other media as well. -David
#6 Is Loki starring in clueless now?
#7 My question is that why is the cape doing this?
#8 This illustration of Black Panther is going to leave many people thirsty.
The artist only took on Marvel superheroes at first. However, when he looked at Jason Momoa in the role of Aquaman, he had to make an exception. So if you really like his art style, you will be pleased to know that you can buy most of these prints on his Etsy shop except the Green Lantern one because that is a commission.
#9 Would Star-Lord ever wear this? Yes definitely.
#10 I thought only Captain America was famous for his butt.
