Manager’s Reaction Makes Employee Quit Who Said No To Coming To Work On His Day Off

One sign of a great manager, or a leader in general, is that he/she knows how to receive “no” as an answer, they know to work their way around it and respect the decisions of their employees. It is not that difficult to understand. If an employee says no to a task and provides a good rationale for it, the conversion should end there and then, you as a manager have no right to force that employee.

However, in today’s Reddit story that was posted on the infamous subreddit “Anti Work” this bad manager was taken aback when their demand wasn’t fulfilled by the employee.

Reddit user u/OnlyFansMod shared that he got called by his manager to come to work on his day off. He obviously told the manager exactly that; that he will not come to work because he is not supposed to. This made the manager react in the worst possible way resulting in the employee quitting the job there and then.

Scroll down below to read how it all went down.

1. The manager wanted OP to show up on his day off and OP demanded double pay and a Monday off if they wanted him to be there.

Obviously, the manager wasn’t going to agree to that condition and OP was not going to show up either.

2. OP had better things to do than to show up to work on his day off, like watching Batman.

You can almost feel the heat coming from the manager’s head to this conversation. He is not happy.

3. The manager gave an obnoxious reaction to OP not listening to him and decided to fire him…OP, however, had already quit.

Here’s what the internet had to say about this:

There is no argument here, this is so out of order the way the manager reacted to a “no”. I mean, come on, egos are never supposed to be brought into office conversations. This manager gave me the most toxic vibes ever.

I personally would never respond to such a manager if I am on my day off. OP should definitely report them to the boss so that such terrible behavior is not seen reinforced in the workplace.

9. This is how things are supposed to be. Some “low-level work” never hurt anybody.

10. OP shouldn’t have responded to his manager at all.

12. What is so difficult to understand in this? I guess the manager has no brain cells.
