12 Horror Movies That Are Based Upon Real Life Stories

Reality is often scarier than a movie.

I mean we have all seen scary giant clowns in movies and some of us might get scared by that but the true horror is always our reality. And creators of horror movies know this so you will see time and time again movies mentioning that they are based upon a ‘real-life story’. What that actually means is that something similar happened and now we are going to throw a ton of jump scares into it to make it more ‘thrilling’ than the actual event was.

However, that doesn’t mean we don’t lap it up. I mean who wants to see a person thinking they are seeing something while everyone calls them crazy and we as audiences don’t see anything either. That would be pretty boring so I somewhat understand why filmmakers do this. However, it should always be that it is inspired by real-life events.

Although that doesn’t apply to all horror movies as you’ll come to see below. So scroll down to take a look.
