Ancient Educator 76, a teacher and Reddit member, recently had a difficult meeting. Their supervisor attempted to compel them to sign a paper that would result in a $345 deduction from their pay. Their quick thinking, on the other hand, turned the issue around and allowed Ancient Educator 76 to go away with a pay raise instead.

The teacher, proud of their accomplishment, published a post on the ‘Malicious Compliance’ subreddit to describe what happened, and it appears that others like it as well—as of this writing, their narrative of what transpired has been upvoted by over 20,000 people. 1. Here’s how the story starts

2. Being a bilingual teacher, OP had various opportunities of teaching students

3. For Mondays and Fridays, OP had to punch in fifteen months extra as prep time but there was a problem

4. By the year’s end, he got docked for about 12 hours

5. The claim was made that he was getting double paid and he should agree on it

6. The district representative just called him to the office and asked him to sign the document saying he will be double paid

7. Heres the part where the malicious compliance starts

8. He intentionally signed the papers wrongly and then waited for the supervisor to call him which happened about right and he was asked for reasons

9. He explained that he was not addressed about it the whole year and now

"Boss

10. OP got a raise of $3500 which made him confused

11. So this was the story behind

12. Luckily, the whole scenario turned out to be a ten times higher raise

After their article went viral, the teacher responded in the comments with more information. “It all happened the last two days of school,” they explained, “and in a way that didn’t need me to sign anything else.” “District Savior Lady is employed at the district office, which is located adjacent to our university. I didn’t have to go see the federal action lady, and the lady who was my direct supervisor for ELL didn’t come to see me either, because she said she’d pushed it through (she sent me a document to sign via email, but I had no idea what it meant other than not being deducted), so I didn’t have to go see her (because of end-of-year sign-off BS where we have to get the maintenance guy to inspect our classroom, etc.). But she still receives her stipend, therefore they won’t deduct her pay; instead, it doubles the amount deducted from the fed act plain lady’s budget. This year, our campus only had two ‘leaders.’ I’d despise it if they paid me but deducted her. Sure, she seemed to be oblivious, but this wasn’t her scene.”
