You can’t deny that almost all grandparents make an effort (and, occasionally, even go out of their way) to be the greatest grandparents they can be to their grandkids. There is a reason why it is stereotyped that grandmothers are overly accommodating and make sure their grandchildren eat six times as much as they should.

However, did you catch how I stated almost all? Yes, some grandparents can be a pain in the neck. Although they are uncommon, they do exist, and when they do, everyone appears to be aware of it right away. Since their deeds, like the one in today’s article, end up on Reddit. A new Redditor with the username u/theantigrinch just posted a petty vengeance story that lives up to his name. It’s about how he bought his daughter a lot of things, but grandma thought he was going overboard to the point where she had to backtrack on her present to avoid spoilage issues. Scroll down below to read the full story.

1. OP got a new job, therefore, decided to spend money on everyone

""

So, OP recently landed a job with a respectable salary. He reasoned that by spending lavishly on gifts for everyone, he might share his happiness and newly acquired financial freedom with everyone. His 9-year-old daughter was among those who benefited from the said indulgence since she earned it:

OP said, “She has been working well in school, pitching in around the house without being asked, and always being the loveliest soul you’ll ever meet.

His mother-in-law, though, had a different viewpoint. She turns around in the early hours of (probably) Christmas morning and discovers a mound of presents. Okay, so it’s only a half-dozen, not a mountain. However, it’s all for the same child. Three large gifts and three smaller ones were given. None of them appeared to entertain the MIL.

2. OP spent much of his money on her nine-year-old daughter as she had been doing so much

""

3. MIL started inquiring OP about the gifts and how much he bought them for

""

4. MIL thought that the gifts are too much for the girl and she will get spoiled

""

5. That’s the point here

""

6. OP believes that Christmas should be about over-spending so there should not be such a fuss about it

""

7. OP took revenge on the MIL by removing her expensive gift and replacing it with an ordinary one

""

8. MIL got really disappointed seeing that gift OP got her

""

9. The wife and the MIL were really not happy

""

10. True

""

11. What kind of grandmother is she?

""

12. Exactly

""

13. I feel the same

""

14. Well done!

""

As one commenter noted, the only way this could’ve been better was if grandma had known she was receiving a bag, but then the OP had been honest and told her he didn’t want to pamper her, and then backpedaled, doing what he wanted with the present because it was his gift. Calm down, Satan, but still entertaining. Keep visiting us for more articles!
