Naming your pets is a really creative exciting product. It is like giving your newborn baby a name. Name is the biggest identity we have and we certainly give it a good thought before deciding on one when it comes to our children, the pets but not so much in their case. Naming pets is a fun process entirely because they do not care about what people refer to them as, they don’t believe in names have an impact on our personalities, they just respond to the trigger word, and that is about it. Most parents let their children name their pets because they feel like the kids will do a much better job coming up with creative, unique, and hilarious names.

However, in today’s story, we have a mother who got put into a dilemma by her coworkers who did not like the names of her pets. Reddit user OrangePomegranate82 has two guinea pigs, one hamster, and one dog, and all of them have been named by her children. The names are really unique and mostly unheard of…and yes, very funny. One day OP’s coworkers came over for a get-together and after realizing what the names of the pets were, they told OP the names are very weird and that kids should never be allowed to name pet animals.

Confused, OP decided to turn to the AITB subreddit to ask if she really should have allowed her kids to name the pets or not. Scroll down below to read the story!

1. Your kids, and your dogs, shouldn’t really be a problem but let’s see.

2. To be very honest with you guys, I kind of like these names. They are unique and very rare, which is great.

3. The names I feel are very cool and unique, OP’s coworkers called them weird and argued she shouldn’t have allowed kids to name their pets.

OP, being a little concerned and having not much idea about what to do, asked if she was wrong for allowing her kids to name the pets.

Here’s what the AITB community voted for and why:

4. If those who use these names to call their pets don’t have any problem with it, then what others think shouldn’t concern OP.

5. OP explained why the guinea pig was named “Sister” for the Redditors who found the name weird.

6. You see, all children like naming pets, and these ones did the exact same thing.

8. First mom I have read calling her kid weird…I am lowkey disappointed because I like those names. And even if you do find the names weird, call the names weird, don’t call your child weird.

OP was NTB in this story, I mean come on. It is kind of disappointing that the thoughts of her coworkers confused her and made her uncertain about the name choices. She should’ve upheld her confidence in her kids. And personally, I really like the names so I don’t care what others think about it, and neither should OP. The judgemental people should keep their entitlement in their pockets, where it belongs.

9. They don’t even know what the names mean…they just respond to them because they frequently get called those names.

""

Via ratakat

10. Yes, those coworkers really had no sense of humor.

""

Via Aylauria

11. Imagine naming a puppy Doug or Walter…I wouldn’t stop laughing trying to call my best friend.

""

Via fucktheroses, ACookieAsACoaster

12. I am just trying to think of the names those coworkers have given to their pets…My god must be so bland.

""

Via lunarteamagic

13. Not a single Redditor has found any of the names terrible…except for that one person who did get the explanation.

""

Via loresandtales

14. The pets don’t care, so neither should you Mommy.

""

Off topic but I really don’t understand the people who say names have an impact on your personality. I mean, I know two men over the age of 30 with the same name; one is jobless but has a gorgeous wife, and the other makes millions but is struggling to find a girl. So, it is all BS.
