Dad Evicts Son, Future Daughter-in-law, & Her Family From House After They Banned Him From Their Wedding

In today’s Reddit AITA story, our OP finds himself in an unexpected and unpleasant situation when he hosts a barbecue party at his Pennsylvania house, that his son lives in rent-free, to get to know his son’s future in-laws. Those in attendance include the original poster and his wife, their daughter, his son and his fiancee, the fiance’s parents, and her sisters. However, things go wrong horribly from there. #1) Is OP the AH for throwing his freeloading in-laws out of a house he and his wife own? Let’s see.

#2) OP and his wife bought a house in PA and gave it to their son since he needed a place as he went to college in PA as well.

#3) OP’s son got engaged and the girl moved in with him. Soon after, a BBQ is hosted at that house for the families to get to know each other.

#4) Everything seems fine, but then OP’s wife and daughter ask him to drive back home looking upset. Turns out that they’ve been uninvited from the wedding.

#5) OP called his son to confront him and then a week later drove to the PA house where his in-laws had fully moved in.

#6) OP went to talk to his son but the in laws tried to kick him out of “their” house. OP tells them he’s selling the house and they need to get out.

#7) OP’s son asks why he’s selling the house and OP tells him it’s because he doesn’t want his family in his new life, so OP is taking back what’s his.

The question that haunts all of us about today’s story is that OP’s son is doing nothing to address his bride-to-be’s demands and her family’s hostility. Instead, he seems to be going along with everything they say and letting them insult his own family without speaking up. It’s the lack of spine that’s truly infuriating.
