Each year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are killed every year because shelters are too full and there aren’t enough adoptive homes. These poor animals have nowhere to go, but for this kindest man the need of to help stray animals changed the life of a person in Turkey. Meet Mert Akkök, who founded a private animal shelter on his farm near Istanbul. Mert Akkök sanctuary welcome any animal who doesn’t have a home or the one’s who need love and care. Mert has around 20 dogs, several cats, goats, birds, donkeys and other animals that many people may find unusual. His love for animals is huge. Mert takes care of them daily and give them attention and love. Animals that are sick, disabled or homeless always find a way to his shelter. This man is indeed doing such a great act of humanity. He rescues them for junkyard, forests, rural areas and even outside the city. He said that ” I try to find home for them and some of them stays with me forever specially the ones who are very old and sick, because nobody would adopt them. Mert even has 46 disabled seagulls that people may find it unusual, 1 blind horse, 3 geese. Scroll down below to see these amazing pictures.

This man is such a hero we all need more people like him so the world can be a better place. These poor animals had no place to go, no one to take care for them but this gentleman took all of them in his shelter and gave them the love they deserve. This is such an act of humanity. He used to live in the city and go outskirts of the city to help these homeless dogs on the weekend. He stated that some of these dogs I adopted myself because I couldn’t leave them where they lived.
