Recovering from alcoholism is not an easy thing so if someone is trying to get out of it, support them.
If someone has been severely addicted to alcohol in your friends or family and is trying to get out of it, please support them instead of making fun of them. It’s not an easy thing. Recently a girl shared on Reddit how her brother’s wife was an ex-alcoholic and was in rehab and it’s been 5 years since she is living a clean life. It was OP’s brother’s wedding and they decided to keep it alcohol-free. It was made clear that the wedding would not have any kind of alcohol.
OP’s sister started making comments like “oh, you don’t want to party? You should let your guests enjoy” etc. She started making really nasty comments about it i.e. the bride should get over it and it’s been five years now. OP’s sister got really aggressive about the comments to the point that the bride was on the verge of tears. This was the moment when OP decided to interrupt. OP told her sister that she was being ungrateful and that she might be an alcoholic too if she can’t stay without a drink for a few hours.
