According to the ASPCA, an astounding 6.3 million companion animals enter animal shelters in the United States each year. Approximately 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized each year (390,000 dogs and 530,000 cats). The statistics are so heartbreaking that it’s difficult to comprehend how many perfectly cute little animals never get a second chance in life.
