Casting directors have a hard job.
Especially when they have to cats for a movie that is based on a book, anime or some sort of media that already existed. That is because everyone has different interpretations when it comes to books and while it is necessary to hire an actor that looks like their book counterpart, sometimes the industry seems to forget that. Maybe it is because they are more worried about whether that particular actor will be able to embody the character well enough rather than just based on appearances.
However, CGI has come really far in recent years. So if they want a specific actor to play a character, a little bit of movie magic can really help in that regard. For example, how marvel movies perfectly de-aged Nick Fury to suit the younger role in Captain Marvel. But today we are going to be pointing out some glaring differences between an actor and their book counterpart. So just scroll below to take a look.
#1 We’ve had many Sherlock Holmes but this adaptation might have been the furthest from what the books had portrayed the famous detective as.

#2 I am not knocking Kenneth’s looks but Lockhart was supposed to be a bit thinner, younger and handsome.

#3 Saoirse is a far cry from her ook counterpart who is supposed to be 15 years old with grey eyes and light brown hair.

#4 If you mix the clown from both of the adaptations, only then do you get the perfect Pennywise depicted in the books.

#5 We have seen Dracula grace our screens many times but not even one adaptation has stayed true to the original book.

#6 Rochester is supposed to be an ugly man but Fassbender is anything but.

There has always been an issue where Hollywood tends to glamorize every character ever portrayed on the screen. I mean even characters who are described as hideous in the books look absolutely gorgeous when shown on the big screen. I understand that most actors are attractive but why not use a few prosthetics and CGI to bring the character to life?
#7 Woodly played the role of Tris well enough but her appearance was nothing like the blonde, blue-eyed girl in the books.

#8 Lawrence has become a household name because of Hunger Games but according to the books she should have been a wiry 16-year-old.

#9 Alice was actually only 7-8 years old in the books.

#10 Elsa was changed from a villain to a hero but her origins come from the Ice Queen.

#11 Stone was flawless in the role of Skeeter but she was a far cry from being a skinny, tall woman with a crooked nose.

#12 Daniel Craig has cemented his place in peoples hearts because of his role as James Bond but that doesn’t mean he looks like the character.

What did you think of these actors playing these roles? Do you think their acting is all that matters? Did we miss any that you think should have been on the list? If so let us know in the comments below.
