Company Wants Passwords From An Employee That Was Terminated 4 Years Ago, Threatens To Sue Him For Not Recalling The Passwords

Threatening a former employee years after their termination is unreasonable and unethical.

You are obliged to resolve the issues related to work as long as you are an employee of the company but if you have left years ago and the company still wants to hold you accountable for their issues, it is highly unethical and low of the company for making such a demand. A Reddit user shared with the Reddit community that he was a manager of an engineering team at a company for 20 years but he was terminated 4 years ago. Two weeks ago, he gets a call from the company asking for the passwords for routers. The company’s demand for passwords four years after the employee’s termination raises several red flags. Secondly, the company’s threat to sue the employee is concerning. The employee may no longer be employed by the company but they still have legal rights. The company cannot make unreasonable demands or threaten legal action without a valid reason. Employees have the right to privacy, and companies should respect that. The company’s actions may have caused unnecessary stress and anxiety for the employee.

Well, the company should have remembered the passwords or should know that the vault was removed two years ago. How can a big company be so irresponsible? Well, you can expect anything to happen in America. The employee knew that they wouldn’t sue him and he had a good laugh to know what happened to the company that once fired him.

This is why they assumed OP would still have the passwords:
