“Gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” according to a petition for a name change, recognition of a gender transition, and issuing of a new birth certificate listed one of billionaire Elon Musk’s children as the official justification.
The 18-year-old teen filed the paperwork with a Santa Monica court back in April, shortly after her birthday. The transgender woman who came out as the daughter of Canadian author Justine Wilson, who was married to Elon Musk from 2000 to 2008, chose to officially change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, adopting her mother’s previous last name. Even though it has been a few months since she first asked to cut off all contact with her father, TMZ broke the story over the weekend.
Reactions to and opinions about this entire incident have been flooding the internet. Twitter users didn’t spend any time posting insightful comments regarding Musk’s latest transphobic remarks.

The young woman sought the court to change her gender recognition from male to female and register her new name a day after turning 18, the age of consent in California. The business entrepreneur has two children with musician Grimes in addition to the five children he shares with his first wife Justine.
Vivian’s mother expressed her pride in her daughter in a tweet on Monday, despite the fact that neither Musk nor Vivian have publicly addressed their alleged argument. The post was published shortly after Vivian’s petition became public knowledge, though Wilson didn’t say which sibling she had the chat with. S
She exhibits a strong sense of support for her daughter and the bold new step she has taken, recalling a beautiful talk they had about how “normal-looking” she is becoming. His first wife Justine wrote a critical essay on their marriage for Marie Claire in 2010. He was raised in a South African culture that was ruled by men, so when he returned home, his competitive and dominant nature that had helped him succeed in business was still there.
This, along with the significant financial disparity between us, meant that in the months after our wedding, a certain dynamic started to take hold, she continued. Elon’s opinion prevailed over mine, and he frequently mentioned the areas in which he thought I fell short. “I am your wife,” I said. ‘not your employee.’ ‘If you were my employee,’ he said just as often, ‘I would fire you.’”

The 50-year-old inventor of Tesla and SpaceX has developed quite a reputation for his provocative viewpoints on Twitter over time. This led to several people pointing out that his daughter might have rejected him as a parent as a result of his actions.
Musk, who calls himself a “free speech absolutist,” has come under fire for several of his Twitter comments on gender identity issues. For saying that “pronouns suck,” he received backlash in 2020. His then-partner Grimes responded to him minutes later in response to the since-deleted tweet: Grimes wrote, “I love you but please turn off your phone or give me a call.” “I can’t stand for hatred. I beg you to stop. I’m aware that this isn’t in your heart.
In December 2020, Musk posted a tweet with an image that said, “when you put he/him in your bio”. It appeared to be a dramatic drawing of an 18th-century soldier smearing blood on his face and wearing a hat that read “I love to oppress.” People started calling him out for showing a lack of respect and having issues with people declaring pronouns. In response to criticism of that tweet, Musk insisted on Twitter later on: “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an [a]esthetic nightmare.”
Then he mentioned that Tesla received a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s annual ranking of the top workplaces for LGBTQ individuals, known as the Corporate Equality Index. Musk’s offensive remarks, according to HRC’s Workplace Equality Program, “stand directly in opposition to what HRC’s Workplace Equality Program works with companies to establish every day—providing employees with a safe, inclusive, and equitable work environment.”
“Elon Musk’s tweet ridiculing pronouns is exactly the reverse of what inclusive leadership looks like today,” the organization’s president Alphonso David added. Additionally, it clearly deviates from the best practises we suggest to businesses. Musk should apologise, he added.

According to Reuters, Musk announced his support for the Republican Party, which has backed legislation that seeks to restrict the rights of the transgender community in some US states, around a month after Vivian submitted the name and gender change paperwork. In the past, I have consistently supported Democrats, stated Musk. Just to be clear, I’m not positive that I’ve ever voted for a Republican. Now, I’ll during this election.
Numerous media sources have observed how Musk’s recent public endorsement of the Republican Party and comments about pronouns and transgender individuals online give the impression that he is not particularly interested with transgender rights. Musk is the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla.
Vivian’s request to change her name has not yet received an answer from Elon, but on Sunday he posted a message in honour of Father’s Day that read: “I love all my kids so much.”
