Employee Was Confronted By Boss For Being Two Minutes Late, Malicious Compliance Ensues

Every company gives a specific time window to employees so that even if they get late for some minutes, their salary does not get deducted. A Reddit user who is always on time even though he comes to the office 5 minutes early every day. He was confronted by his boss for coming late to office two minutes. The boss told him that he expects him to be on time every day because they lose hundreds dollars of labor each minute for coming late. OP talked to a payroll employee and she told him that the company does not pay them 3 minutes before and after the clock-in/clock-out time. This was the moment he knew what he really needs to do. 1. OP used to work at a small retail store, 5 to 6 years ago where he was one day confronted by his boss for being late.

2. A day before, he asked OP to come in on his off-day and that too at an earlier time.

3. OP clocked in at 7:02 AM. There is a 5 minutes window for everyone and it was not OP’s habit to come late.

Some managers are terrible, they would not come to the office on time and expect the employees to be on time every day. This is ridiculous and we get through it every other day. The company would not care about the clock-in or clock-out time but some managers and even HRs would make a big deal out of it.
