Meet Ranger, the German Shepherd!

So the pupper is a German Shepherd named Ranger, and he is a 2-year-old purebred. He looks like a little puppy despite his age because of the disease known as Pituitary Dwarfism. He was diagnosed with this condition after a parasite called Giardia caused an infection.

Shelby Mayo, the dog’s owner, explained Ranger’s condition saying “When we originally got Ranger from the breeder, he was smaller than all his other littermates, but we figured that was because he had a parasite called Coccidia. In the weeks following, we took him home and he was parasite-free but later on, ended up getting a parasite called Giardia. At the same time, we also discovered that our cute puppy had a large infection on his neck. We were eventually able to get the infection under control, fast forward a few months later we were finally able to get rid of Giardia.”

Isn’t he adorable?

Eventually, when Ranger got cured of the infection, his owners observed that he had stopped growing normally like other german shepherds. This led to the owners visiting the veterinarian for their dog’s strange condition.

Despite the fact that Ranger’s disease is going to make him appear like a little adorable baby forever, it has its side effects too. The side effects included flaky skin and shedding of the fur. All of this is the result of a disorder in the endocrine system known as Hypothyroidism in which not enough thyroid hormone is produced by the thyroid gland.

But hey, that still didn’t stop him from living his life to the fullest!
