Engagement rings are supposed to be a symbol of love and commitment, but sometimes they can also cause a lot of drama and conflict. That’s what happened to a Reddit user who posted his dilemma on r/AmItheA$$hole. He wanted to know if he was wrong for being upset with his fiancée for adding a ring enhancer to the engagement ring he gave her.
OP said he worked hard to buy his fiancée a beautiful diamond ring set worth 10 thousand dollars. He was proud of his choice and thought she loved it too. However, he was shocked when he saw her wearing a 3 grand enhancer from her mom which changed the whole look of the ring. When the couple realized the ring was one size big for her finger, they mutually agreed to get it resized on the next weekend but she still got the enhancer when she went to her mother’s house. He felt offended and hurt by her decision and wondered if he had a right to say something.

2. To celebrate their 2 year anniversary, OP decided to have a great time with his girlfriend over the weekend and planned to propose to her at the end.
3. He went all out and got a diamond engagement ring.
4. OP’s efforts didn’t go to waste as his girlfriend said yes and absolutely loved the surprise.
5. For the entirety of the next week, the girlfriend kept telling OP how much she and everyone, who saw it, loved the ring.
6. Because the ring was one size too big, the couple decided to get it resized the following week.
7. However, one day while she was at her mother’s house, the girlfriend informed her that they may not have to get the ring resized anymore.
8. Her mom had basically given her a ring holder/enhancer which according to OP made the ring and the ring finger look terrible.
9. OP tried his best to convince her the enhancer would never look good but it seemed like the girlfriend had picked a side, which was to keep the enhancer on.
OP got her the ring, she shouldn’t have fiddled with it on her own. She should have at least asked him before taking the enhancer instead of letting him know after that she had already put it on.
This is a strong 2-year-long relationship we are talking about. I don’t think this is how you are supposed to make decisions in such a relationship.
