If someone puts a responsibility on your shoulders and you accept to honor it, there is no way in h*ll you can back out. That would be so unfair to the person you promised. You must execute that task properly and must not do anything you have not been asked to do.
Unfortunately, in today’s story, that is exactly what happened. Reddit user u/chopstickinsect shared that she and her husband were soon going to move out of the country. They had sold their house and were living with her MIL. The couple had some cats too that the MIL and FIL were tasked to take care of while OP and her husband went to her parents’ house to say their goodbyes.
The couple had one cat that wasn’t allowed in the country they were going to shift to so they had decided to find a new family for it before leaving. However, the MIL decided to take this duty upon herself and closed a deal with a family and gave that cat away while the couple was still away. OP go really upset after hearing the news. Her husband wanted to go no contact with his mom for what she did.
The couple shared their intent was the same but they wanted to be with the cat when it happened so they could thoroughly look for the right family. Cats have specific needs.

1. This has already made me so sad and angry at the same time.
2. This is about the time when OP and her husband were in another city to visit her family. The two had been living with her MIL as they had sold their house and were going to move to another country.
3. While the coupe was away, OP’s MIL and FIL had been looking after their cats.
4. OP and her husband had been looking for a new family for one of their cats because that type wasn’t allowed in the country they were going to move to. MIL called OP to share a recent update regarding a family she had found for the cat.
5. OP wanted MIL to wait till they were back home but just a few minutes after the original call, MIL informed the couple she had finalized the feal and the cat was now in possession of its new owners.
What just happened? Who authorized MIL to do that? This is so aggravating. Surely OP and her husband can’t just sit and do nothing about this. They must locate this new family as soon as they return. Perhaps, a solid reason will convince the new owners. And this MIL, wow she has some nerve.
I am happy the couple is moving away because it must be h*ll living with that MIL.
