Brody The Pup Came In For His Swearing-In Ceremony Which Quickly Turned Into A Sleeping-In Ceremony

That thing you always hear about puppies being unpredictable? That’s very true.

Puppies are adorable creatures. And that’s not where we put a full stop. They are very strong as well. They like to help. Your puppy would know if you’re sick and would do anything in his or her power to help you. Usually, they go for comfort. They’d rub their face against yours. They’d wag their tail and do random weird things just to see a smile on your face.

Some puppies are actually hired by the police as comfort dogs. Today, we will be talking about Brody and his big moment that actually turned cute. He is a 12-weeks-old Labrador Retriever who actually serves as a therapy dog for the Bristol Police Department located in Rhode Island, USA.

Comfort or therapy dogs can be very helpful at times. They are not hired to intimidate anyone. They’ve got a very sweet persona that allows them to minimize stress. We all know how stressful police investigations can get and can result in a very serious, and unproductive work environment. Doggos like Brody help with anxieties and stress management so that police officers can work more productively.

Something very unique, rather adorable, happened on Brody’s first day. He had to attend his swearing-in ceremony. Just a routine thing for the police. But Brody had to wake up really early for this. The little guy couldn’t get much sleep and was super nervous the previous night about his big day, which resulted in very less sleep and much more tiredness.

Brody’s handler, Officer Keith Medeiros, lifted Brody up and gently put him on the desk and the ceremony began. But everyone was quick to notice that little guy Brody was fast asleep. Officer Medeiros said, “We put him down on the desk and he was just so comfortable that he lay down and fell asleep.”

The fact that brody was napping with all those people around him, meant that he was actually quite comfortable around his new colleagues. The ceremony was conducted while Brody caught up on the remainder of his sleep.

Police reported that Brody would soon be involved in activities with various town’s schools. Medeiros said, “We’re very excited for Brody to meet the people in our community and we’re very excited for him to meet the students in the Bristol-Warren Regional School District,”

In an interview with The Dodo, Officer Medeiros shared some habits of Brody. He shared, “He plays really hard and he sleeps really hard. When he’s not playing, he’s sleeping, which is kind of tough because he sleeps a lot.”

The police seem to be very satisfied with Brody. He’s a great helping hand. They believe having Brody around can help a lot with stress management, as well as their community efforts. Having a comfort dog around can actually help reduce anxiety for both the witnesses and the investigators. Seems like the sleepy boy is gonna stay in for a bit longer.

Medeiros further added, “People are really stressed, especially in law enforcement,” Medeiros said. “Just by walking in the police department with Brody, people immediately smile, they immediately get into a better place. They want to pet him, want to hug him and it’s just a really good thing.”

I absolutely love dogs like Brody. Although it was a sleeping-in-ceremony instead of a swearing-in ceremony for the little boy, he showed his potential right away and proved that he is worthy of the tasks assigned to him. The police, naturally, comes across as a little scary department when it comes to investigations. But they can’t help it, it’s their job. They have to squeeze the answers out. And I believe that’s where comfort dogs like Brody play a great role to manage the stress levels of everyone and helping out both the police and the people being interrogated.
