Woman Started Getting Death Threats For Rehoming A Cat Whose Owner Refused To Collect It

It is not always that we get a reward for helping someone out, it can backfire as well.

It is said that if you help someone out or are there for someone to resolve a matter for them, sooner or later you will get rewarded for it. But the reality can be often disappointing because sometimes you just do not get acknowledged for extending a helping hand and you just have to accept it.

Reddit user u/MidwestPrincess09 shared in a story, posted on the subreddit Am I The A**hole? that until their mother found themselves a new home, she had allowed her daughter’s cousins to stay at her house. Now out of these cousins, one of the oldest who was around 18 brought in his girlfriend and the two stayed at OP’s house for a month. The couple also had a cat that they brought into OP’s house.

About a year later while everyone moved out, the boyfriend and girlfriend never returned to collect their belongings…and their cat. This angered OP and she decided to put their belongings outside and made them aware to collect their stuff and that she has rehomed their cat.

That’s not the end of it because even after 4 years after the main event, she is still receiving abuse and threats for what she did. Scroll down below to read!

1. The husband’s side of the family exploited OP’s kindness. The decision to set their stuff outside and, more importantly, rehome the cat was great.

At first, Isaiah got a place to stay, then he made his girlfriend move in along with their cat. OP could’ve said no but she was nice a person and decided to give many of her husband’s family members a place to stay including Isaiah. And then Mr. entitled decided to act cool and not get his stuff once they had moved out…and not even the cat. Wow.

2. 4 years after she rehomed Isaiah’s cat, he now decides to threaten her to get his cat back. Recently he showed up at her house and harassed her along with a couple of his guys.

If you don’t come to collect your cat and a whole year passes by, rehoming is the only option that makes sense. Surely OP felt they didn’t want the cat anymore and one can only spend too much on an animal that’s not even theirs. And OP had her own pets to take care of as well. I fully support her decision, it was supposed to teach that family a lesson. But it turned out Isaiah decided to turn into a gangster and wanted his cat back at all cost…even if it meant sending death threats to OP. Crazy!

Here’s what the internet had to say on this matter:

3. Honestly, it was their stuff. OP didn’t really have to tell them to get it. It’s common sense, you take care of your own sh*t.

4. Scary and stupid are not a good combination and can be dangerous for OP. The recordings of the harassment should be shown to the police so quick action can be taken.

5. OP should get one as soon as she can.

6. OP had a lot of suggestions to get a restraining order and by showing the video recordings, she could easily get one.

I really like this suggestion of getting a restraining order against that bully, Isaiah. One addition that I would like to make is that OP should file a case against Isaiah for not being a responsible cat owner and for harassing her. I don’t know if any of this is workable, I am not a lawyer. But once she has herself secured with a restraining order by the judiciary, she can feel safe going ahead and lodging a case. The proper AH in this story is that dumb gangster, Isaiah. Just wanted to say that.

7. The matter is very serious and OP should seek definitely seek help from the law if needed.

8. I want those thugs to write terrible rap songs in the local jail.

9. Rehoming the cat was not illegal, abandoning it was.

10. OP did so much for them and this is how they returned the favor.

11. Imagine some people show up at your house at midnight and start banging hard on the windows. Would give me a heart attack.
