Cat Owner Got Upset When A Colleague Said Her “Fur Babies” Are Not Really Kids

One of the worst sensations in the world is when your friends purposefully exclude you from events and celebrations. You can start to doubt your connection to them and your significance in their lives. When your only options are to keep being friends with them or avoid interacting with people who think so little of you, it’s a terrible feeling. You will nevertheless experience a period of time where you feel alone.

This 20-year-old worker complained about his coworker’s treatment in a Reddit post. OP recently began a new job in an environment where women predominate. A small group of women has become close because of their shared mothering experiences. They all have kids that are essentially the same age. The group frequently gets together for mom-and-child activities, coffee dates, weekend get-togethers, and even to watch each other’s children. An OP’s coworker has been whining to him about feeling excluded from this group. OP felt sorry for her because she believed they were deliberately leaving her out. Since she calls herself a “mama” and constantly speaks of “the kids,” he assumes she is a parent. On Friday, when OP wanted to see images of her children, she stunned him by displaying a picture of three cats instead. OP finally understood that she had “fur babies” and is a “fur mama.” Below is the story by OP in her own words. Don’t forget to read the comments of the Redditors at the end of the post. There were many complex feelings engaged in the scenario, which was confusing. When OP outlined the reasons the mom group does not invite her to their get-togethers, he did it without any malice in mind. Being wounded by what the OP said is also valid, but wanting to be a part of a friend group does not make her an a**hole. OP made the correct decision by apologizing, and he may now move forward with mending their friendship.
