I am sure we have all had those moments when we asked our neighbours to turn down the volume, and they ignored us. We’ve all had similar experiences, and it never gets better. However, what should a person do if their neighbour refuses to cooperate?

That was the dilemma that the original poster (OP) of the following story faced. You see, their neighbours had installed a very bright security light that pointed directly into their bedroom. This not only interfered with privacy but also made it extremely difficult to sleep well. After all, who can sleep with a torch shining in their eyes? It’s not like they didn’t try various methods to solve the problems, but none of them worked. So the only way OP could move forward was to exact some sweet revenge.

The area OP used to live in was quite peaceful, especially at night.

That peace was, however, interrupted when the neighbours installed a bright security light.

OP tried to fix the issue on their own by talking to the HOA, but that was all for naught.

So OP tried talking the issue out with the neighbour and even offered some money.

When that didn’t work out, OP decided to employ some well-earned revenge.

The answer was, of course, bamboo shoots.

OP consulted with all the rules and regulations, and as it turned out, there was nothing against planting bamboo on their property.

After only a few months, the bamboo shoots had formed a huge wall, and the light issue was gone.

This also caused the neighbour’s yard to be full of bamboo shoots.

I won’t say that revenge is always the best way to deal with neighbour issues, but it can be the only way to ensure that an entitled person does not walk all over you. And, while I feel bad for the neighbour in this story who ended up with bamboo all over their yard, they were the ones who started it.

After all, if they had simply listened and changed the direction of the light, none of this would have occurred. So I’d say the revenge was well deserved. Not only that, but even after OP moved out, their lawn is still full of bamboo shoots, which is quite amusing. They clearly had no idea how this would all end.
