OP’s family moved to take care of his sick grandfather, and despite being half-White and half-Asian, he and his sister diligently learned the language.
OP’s grandmother looked down upon his sister and she faced constant reprimands and unfair treatment.
After OP’s grandfather’s passing, his parents decided to stay in Asia. Seven months ago, his parents sent his sister to boarding school for what was initially supposed to be just the summer.
OP was concerned about his sister’s prolonged absence, his parents claimed she loved boarding school so much she didn’t want to come back, which he finds hard to believe:
The situation worsened when after five months of no contact from his sister, his father turned her room into his office space, and the final blow came when OP discovered his sister’s phone among her old belongings in a box.
OP seeks advice on what he can do to find out more about his sister’s boarding school and expresses his deep worry about the situation:
OP made an update post:
OP shared an update on Reddit, expressing gratitude for the support received through DMs:
With the help of the supportive Reddit community, OP managed to contact various sources. Additionally, OP met up with a fellow Redditor, close in age, who had shared OP’s story with her family for support and assistance.
The fellow Redditor’s family let OP stay with them for a bit and made the necessary calls to ensure the situation was handled legally and clarified that OP wasn’t running away from home but cooperating with the investigation. However, authorities compelled OP to return home.
OP returned home to find the house completely empty and ended up staying with the supportive family. After a week, OP receives a call informing him that his sister has been found:
OP’s family had been detained for questioning and it was discovered that his sister had been living nearly 700 kilometers away. She was sold by their father for marriage.
OP’s mother was not implicated in the situation, as she was unaware of the events until they had already transpired. However, his father and grandmother were arrested. Currently, OP is living with his mother and reunited with his sister.
OP’s sister doesn’t not speaking much now. She found comfort after reading the Reddit post. She expressed feeling abandoned and alone, but the overwhelming support and compassion from both OP and strangers brought her happiness.
In the vast expanse of life’s challenges, few can rival the pain of losing a loved one, especially when that loss is accompanied by a profound sense of betrayal. This emotional story shows the determination and courage of a young brother who refused to let despair consume him.
