Adulthood is a phase that we all crave as kids but regret the moment we experience it. When we’re kids we are easily fascinated by almost everything. We just can’t wait to grow up so we can stay up past bedtime, go out all by ourselves and do everything as much as we want to. But it’s only after we enter adulthood that we realize how wrong these concepts are.
When we’re adults, we are accountable for our actions. We have to manage the very same finances that once we didn’t even know existed. We have bills to pay and people to feed. It’s not as easy as we once thought it would be. We are forced to think about the future, plan things accordingly, and act…well like an adult.
But, of course, maturity has nothing to do with age and for some people these things happen way earlier in life. But once we’re adults, we’re forced to think like this regardless of how we spent our years before. But it’s not always that complicated. Everything seems difficult in the beginning and with time becomes manageable. Humans are adaptable. Which is probably why adults always say “Everything works out in the end.”
However, that still doesn’t mean the adult journey is a smooth one. It’s full of obstacles and challenges which we will today show you in the form of hilarious tweets. From taking advil to having a “favorite toilet stall at the office” the following tweets from full-fledged adults show just what to except the moment you turn 20!
Take a look below.
Ah, yes. 60 year old back problems at the age of 24.
That is super annoying.
Why is this so true?!
There’s nothing in the world like some good sleep. I repeat, NOTHING.
I feel attacked…
20+ gang where ya at?
More like a lifetime routine.
Happiness is in the small things.
Same, kid. Same.
The moment we turn 20, everything changes. Even if nothing actually changes, a sense of responsibility develops in us that at times feels suffocating. It’s a stage where we are forced to think about our goals and our priorities in life. But apart from the obvious concerns and worries at times we even think about our real purpose. Why are we alive? What are supposed to do with this life? Study, work, earn, get married and die? Is that it? Is that why we were born? Or, does life hold something special for us?
Are we destined to make a change? Can we change other people’s lives? Can our existence make someone else’s life less miserable? These are some of the many questions that come to mind the moment we step foot in adulthood.
On a daily basis*
If the thought of new furniture and a new house turns you on then Congratulations! You’re officially an adult.
Oh my, that’s so true.
I thought I was the only one.
There’s nothing like comfort.
The word you’re looking for is self-control, my child. Get used to it.
All the time.
Yes, because for some reason they all work differently.
This should’ve been in my yearbook.
How come all of these are true?!
Sheesh. What a stupid thing to say!
Ah, yes. The necessities.
How does that even happen?!
This is probably the best way to put it.
It’s funny how life works.
Is there any “go back” button to reverse time?
So basically, we are all adults at heart, we just discover it at different times…
You never know when you need them.
Ah, yes. The depressive episodes.
They’re all legends.
Time flies way too fast…
Try doubling the “disappointment” portion.
Is it just me or is adulting actually very exhausting? How do people even do this? How do I do this?
