They say “Laughter is the best therapy”. In this case, Stephen Beals is no less than a therapist. He twists the negative situations and emotions into very amusing artwork to which every retail worker and customer can relate. Stephen has been drawing comics for a very long time now. He does this just for the love of art and humor. As Stephen himself mentioned, his drawings were created as a way for him to relax after work.
He titled them “Adult Children” because, according to the artist, “adulthood seems to be a myth that we tell children to make them behave.” He believes that we all have a child in ourselves that we suppress and hide just in the name of adulthood. Through his comics, Stephen tries to entertain that child in every adult as the name suggests.

You’ll be surprised to know that all the characters in these comics are actually 4 different personalities of the artist. He believes that all of us have more than one personality or at least he himself has 4 separate ones.
Claremont (the dog) is Stephen at his finest, “that’s why he’s a dog.” Harvey is Stephen’s ego, Berle is the true self of him, and Penny is the little portion of his responsibilities. Todd (an extra) is another character that portrays the artist’s foolish side.
