After acquiring FOX’s 20th Century FOX studio, The Walt Disney Organization is possibly the largest company in the entertainment industry. The company expects billions of dollars in future revenues from the remaining Star Wars films, Avatar films, and even the majority of the remaining Marvel characters for both film and television rights.
It’s no surprise that some of the stories and songs we heard as children were much darker in their original context. Because these stories have been passed down over generations, you might expect some modifications. If you wish to learn about Disney facts and hear interesting twists in the storylines we know and how they were first presented, you’ll enjoy this post. We’ve produced a list of 20 scenes and storylines that were originally in the plot that inspired these great Disney films but were modified or eliminated for valid reasons.
These moments may be dirty, unpleasant, or inappropriate for children’s books, but that only adds to the excitement. Here’s a word of caution: you might not look at these fairytales the same way you did previously.
1. Sleeping Beauty
Children aren’t supposed to know this.
2. Mulan
I didn’t know Mulan is this dark! Why would someone write such a story for children?
3. Pinocchio
My whole childhood was a lie. This one had a happy ending as far as I remember.
4. The Little Mermaid
I see why they didn’t include this in the original version.
5. Beauty and the Beast
Didn’t know that jealousy can be this lethal!
6. Aladdin
It’s weird to know these surprising truths at this age.
7. Jungle Book
I am genuinely SHOCKED to witness the cruel side of Mowgli.
8. Robin Hood
These stories are getting more interesting with every new revelation.
9. Peter Pan
So you are telling me Peter was actually a murderer?
10. Tangled
I think some truths should be left untold. It is getting crazier out here!
11. Pocahontas
Damn, these plot twists really be twisting my mind.
12. Mary Poppins
I wouldn’t have read the story if I knew this before. This is sadenning.
13. The Lion King
Thank God children didn’t know this version. Or they would have been depressed by now.
14. Little Snow White
Well, the queen deserves this.
15. Tarzan
I genuinely feel sorry for Tarzan.
16. The Frog Prince
It would have been a funny scene if they included it in the movie
17. Hercules
It wouldn’t have been darker than this. Good thing kids are unaware of it.
18. The Fox and the Hound
I prefer the version we heard as a child, instead of this darker one.
19. Cinderella
I see no point in including this disgusting scene in a movie like Cinderella.
20. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Children should never know this cold scene.
The original Disney movies and stories had really incredible dark storylines. I had no knowledge of most of these, and it’s no surprise that these sequences have been omitted from the stories we currently hear.
Some of them were clearly inappropriate for children, which is why it is obvious why they were deleted.
