Physical activities for a cat can keep them both happy and healthy. It helps them satisfy their need for stalking and hunting. It also helps in using all that energy they have been building up from napping unpredictably. Taking cats out on a hike or even to the backyard can be a great adventure for them. In addition to this, they will also help you see the world from a whole new perspective.

However, keep in mind that not all the cats are adventurous. Some just enjoy curling up indoors and seeing the world from the open windows.

Now, the question is, how do we prepare them for adventures like camping, boat rides and stuff like that? Well, you should start early. First thing’s first. Know your cat. Is your cat an indoor feline or likes to go out? Never force a cat to do something out of its comfort zone. You know the cat rules right? Everything that involves them or concerns them needs to be done on their terms and that’s just how it works.

Secondly, be sure to familiarize your cat to a harness. Keeping cats outdoor without a harness and a leash is a bad idea. They can run away and never come back. Or, they may get hurt by other animals in the wild e.g. snakes. It’s better to make them wear harness for at least 15 minutes a day so they don’t feel uncomfortable in it.

Third and foremost, don’t rush things with a cat. They have there own pace and need time to get used to an outside environment. Start slowly and then keep adding things to it.

When traveling outdoors with a cat, be sure to come prepared. Pack their food, water, and a bag pack your cat can slip into for a catnap. Be mindful of rewarding them from time to time with their favorite treats when they do something like making a jump or walking a mile. Cats react very positively when appreciated and do not forget to be playful with them. They enjoy it and this also helps strengthen the bond between the owner and the cat.
