Everyone should have a grip on basic house chores.
It is never assured that you will always be someone to get out of situations. If you end up being alone without enough money to afford maids, no best friends are going to clean your bathroom or wash your dishes. So, even if you have someone but they are away you should at least have a grip on basic house chores, for example, doing dishes, cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, and other basic stuff. And it is also important to learn how to cook, at least the basic dishes like an egg, a sandwich with leftovers. Basically, a person should have a grip on just enough to survive, at the very least.
Learning these 5 to 6 skills can make life very easy but there are so many out there who refuse to learn them and only realize the consequences of their mistake after they face a situation where no one is there to dig them out of it.
Today’s story is about a boyfriend who had his upbringing done in a house where all the typical, traditional stereotypes would apply. Reddit user u/BurderThrowaway shared how her boyfriend had a strong belief that cooking is only for women and so she would do all the cooking in the house. The girlfriend soon had to leave for a one-week work-related trip. Now the problem here was that her dumb boyfriend had no idea how to survive on his own.
The boyfriend only knew how to use the microwave and would re-heat the food and eat it every time his girlfriend would be away. But before going, his girlfriend who needed some money to cover the trip’s expenses decided to buy some basic ingredients to cook food instead of frozen microwaveable food. She left and the boyfriend had no idea to cook. She returned home to an extremely angry, starving boyfriend who claimed she left him on purpose.

The girlfriend seems so supportive. Just look at all the efforts she is making in order for her husband to have a comfortable week while she is away. You won’t find such people often. Now, here’s the thing. If the boyfriend still manages to mess stuff up, he won’t have any evidence or proof to blame her. From this moment onwards, anything if it goes south would keep the girlfriend from being the AH. There, you already have my vote locked in.

Another reason why I don’t think OP was the AH is that she cared about the overall expenses too. And the boyfriend didn’t take any of that into account. If he really had a problem with cooking, he could’ve just gone to the market and bought some frozen food. This just shows he was way too lazy to even do that. I would suggest OP go away more often. This is the only way to make him learn to do his own work.
