Dad Tells Kid To Walk Home And Don’t Call The Sitter Unless It’s Emergency, Regret It

It was the year 1999, just before OP’s birthday when his parents disclosed the move, attributed to OP’s mom’s newfound job. Leaving behind familiar faces and cherished surroundings was no easy feat, but the prospect of a fresh beginning kept his spirits high.

Upon arrival at their new neighborhood, they discovered the conspicuous absence of school buses traversing through their neighborhood. Thus, OP had no choice but to walk to and from school every day. Though the parents were initially apprehensive, they eventually acquiesced, considering the school’s proximity.

Then came early September, accompanied by a blistering heatwave that mercilessly engulfed OP’s neighborhood. The middle school lacked the respite of air conditioning, rendering the already extended school days insufferable. On those sweltering afternoons, OP utilized the coins from vending machines to summon the babysitter instead of trekking home.

Keep on scrolling down to read the full story in OP’s own words and we will see you at the end of the article.
