It’s not worth it to give the job your everything when you have a terrible manager.
It’s a very well-known fact that when you start a new job, you should give it your everything and step on that accelerator right from the get-go. It is important to get noticed by your manager for the good efforts you make as early as possible as this helps form a nice, strong relationship with the boss. As soon as you start getting acknowledged for the hard work you put in, by your boss, you get motivated to perform even better and that’s when you surpass your 100% working at an efficient rate you never thought was possible. All of this can only happen if your bosses respect the effort you put in and are always there for you even when you have a below-average day.
Unfortunately, this is a highly ideal situation that I just mentioned. The real world is full of bad bosses who never recognize the efforts of their employees. That makes the work environment very challenging as you have no idea what to do with the damaged motivation and no will to work anymore because no one commends you for your efforts.
In today’s story, something similar happens with Reddit user MoneySquash6169. She shares how at times she puts in more than 35 hours in a week and she has never complained to her manager about it. One day her manager wanted her to cover up for an employee who couldn’t come in and the days she had to come in were Friday and Saturday. OP agreed on Friday but didn’t want to come on Saturday because it was her day off. The manager was not happy about it and proceeded to tell OP that every time she makes any plans on her days off, she should be well informed about them.

3. So weird of a manager to demand their employee informs them of all her off-day plans.

4. The manager really is nuts about this one.

And here are some of the comments shared on the post. Spoiler alert: The manager gets grilled.
5. She will always manage to make the importance of the shifts higher than OP’s plans and will make her work.

6. 35+ hours a week is not part-time.

7. Just keep it to the point, no need to give any information.

8. It’s totally her problem.

9. She has no right to know what her employees do when they’re not at work.

10. Such managers deserve to be ignored.

I absolutely hate such managers. Don’t you think it’s a bit weird for someone to ask what you do on your days off? Extremely weird. She’s just trying to show off she has powers but those powers mean nothing in reality. OP really should reconsider if she wants to continue with this job because are you kidding me, she has to work over 35 hours a week. That’s unfair and probably illegal too somewhere around the globe. Proper asshat, this horrible manager.
11. This is a brilliant suggestion.

12. Once the duty finishes, OP has nothing to do with the company and those leading it.
Via MoneySquash6169
13. Always say you have plans so no Saturdays are free to work. A good proposal.
Via MoneySquash6169
14. This person suggested OP look for a new job.
Via MoneySquash6169
15. OP deserves to be registered as full-time given how much work her manager takes from her.
Via MoneySquash6169
16. The set plans are set. It’s not like telling the manager about those plans will change or delay them.
Via MoneySquash6169
17. Plans mean OP is unavailable and cannot work on that day. As simple as that.
Via MoneySquash6169
18. Always have plans on Saturdays.

19. Even better. Have plans on Fridays as well.
