Rac*sm can be found anywhere.
We are all aware that rac*sm is not something that people are born with, but rather something that we learn as we grow older. That is not to say that learning it is a bad thing. When a child spews such nonsense, it is usually because their parents did not properly educate them on how to be accepting of others. This is especially true when it comes to ethnic foods. Surprisingly, people who are afraid of various foods that they consider strange still exist today. Don’t get me wrong: as a Middle Easterner, I understand that some foods can have a strong odour, but that’s none of their business as long as I’m not forcing anyone to eat them.
However, the woman in this story does not share this sentiment. She believes that just because her son is sensitive to the smell of his classmates’ lunches, she should stop bringing them. When I don’t like something, I don’t go near it; why make such a big deal about it in the first place? The mother of this child also joined in to see who could make the most hateful comments about the poster of this story. As you might expect, OP was not going to take it lying down.

Even by the title, we can tell she isn’t in the wrong.
We start off with getting some information behind this fiasco.
As it turns out, it is just about lunch boxes.
One day OP was with her daughter at a playground when another mother walked up to her.
She claimed that her son was bothered by the lunches OP packed for her daughter.
Apparently, he doesn’t like the smell and gets nauseous or something of the like.
Debra got even angrier when her hate was met with calm disinterest.
She continued to make hateful comments so OP put a stop to it with a simple statement.
However, OP now thinks that she may have taken it a bit too far.
While this may appear harsh to some, I believe it was entirely justified. And it’s not like the kids were too close to the conversation to hear the swear words. We also didn’t hear the entire conversation, so I’m sure the woman spewed a lot of rac*st remarks. If I were in the OP’s shoes, I would have been far more enraged, so I believe she handled the situation admirably. I’m not sure why her son can’t simply sit further away from the girl if he dislikes the smell so much.
People in the comments, however, fully agree with how she dealt with it.
Some even advised her to go to the school administration.
This is just straight-up bullying in my mind.
Who wouldn’t lose their temper in a situation like this?
Controlling people like this exist everywhere.
They have no business controlling what anyone else eats.
What are your thoughts on the entire situation? Do you think the OP went too far and should have simply walked away from the woman? What would you have done if you were in this situation?
