You can’t force someone to take care of your pet.
Taking care of an animal is no easy feat and thus you shouldn’t force someone to do it for you. I know that it is incredibly hard for people to find a sitter for their pets if they’re having problems or are moving. I know that I never want to pay for boarding for my cat whenever I am on vacation since it is incredibly expensive so I have to find someone who loves cats so they’re fine with taking care of him for a short while.
However, that doesn’t mean that you can give them your pet and not contact them for months on end. You have to call them and actually ask about as to what is going on with your pet. But that is exactly what this woman did not do. When they broke up, she wanted OP to take care of her dog for a while until she could stand on her feet since she used to live together with him. However, a few weeks turned into a few months and there were no words from her.

This particular story is all about relationship drama.
But a dog somehow got involved in all of this.
His ex wanted to leave the dog with him because she was going to be at her parent’s house.
He agreed on the condition that it was going to be temporary.
However, a month passes and he can’t get in contact with his ex.
He tried everything from texting her to going to her parent’s house.
When nothing worked, he decided to do what was best for the dog which was giving him away.
So he rehomed Elvis and the doggo found a loving forever home.
As you can probably guess Lexi wasn’t happy when she found out about this and blew up.
It isn’t as if he rehomed the dog after a week or two and he kept Elvis for at least a few months. It is clear that he cared for the dog and wanted what was best for him which wasn’t his home. He worked full time and he tried contacting her any way he could. I don’t understand why she would do this if she really cared for the doggo. Did she only leave him with the dog so she had an excuse to contact him? And if she didn’t want him to give the dog away, she shouldn’t have blocked him.
People in the comments were 100% on his side.
After all, she was just making excuses and she needed to realize her mistake.
She clearly was playing a game and she lost.
I am just sad that a dog got involved in all of this mess.
If she had actually cared for the dog, she would have never done this.

This is what happens when we try to work from home. You can try to move them in theory but I wouldn’t have the audacity to disturb our cat overlords.
