Today’s story is not for the faint-hearted as the content will definitely not be easy to absorb emotionally. This might as well be a scenario you may have only seen in movies or read in novels. But today it comes from the real world, from a couple under stress and not knowing how to deal with this situation.
A mother took it to Reddit to share with the world her tension and stresses which involved her husband who had accused her of cheating on him and their daughter who is at the center of this story. The mother shares her husband thought their daughter isn’t his because the color of her eyes didn’t match the color of both their eyes. To confirm, he decided to take a paternity test and it came back negative. This cemented his belief in the fact that his wife had indeed cheated on him. The wife suggested they both take more tests because the first one may be faulty. The husband’s test came back negative again but the wife’s test also came out negative. Turns out, both parents did not make their daughter. She did not belong to them. Yes, and you will get even more confused and feel bigger shocks when you read the story as narrated by the mother.

1. A family suspense. Let’s dive in.

2. OP looks extremely worried about what happened and how things are moving.

3. OP’s husband took a paternity test which came back negative and now he believes their daughter isn’t his and that his wife cheated on him…according to OP, she did no such thing.

4. Things changed drastically between the couple after the husband took that paternity test. He hasn’t been treating OP like his own wife.

5. Even if you are a genetics expert you still cannot predict the characteristics of your offspring with 100% accuracy.
Via u/red_earaches
6. They should definitely have more tests done. You cannot finalize a decision based on just one test which could be faulty.
Via u/red_earaches
7. OP will make another attempt to convince her husband to take more tests. She has to, after all her innocence is at stake.
Via u/red_earaches
Here’s what the internet thinks about the situation:
8. That is a solid suggestion. They must all get their DNAs done.
Via mcmurrml
9. There could be a thousand possibilities. They must take more tests.
Via Ns53
10. It is the best policy to rule out all possibilities.
Via Reddit
11. The more you test, the nearer you are to accuracy.

12. I would lose my sh*t if this is the case.
Wow, man. That was a stressful read. One thing is for sure, the couple has to explore more options. You cannot make a final decision based on one paternity test which might as well be false. It happens, test results can come out wrong.
There are countless possibilities for this situation. The baby may have been switched, the husband may have chimerism, it could be anything. I hope the husband agrees with OP and the couple goes in for more tests. After all, the mother has a major point to prove that she did not cheat on her husband.
Soon an update came from OP that everyone had been anxiously waiting for. Here it is:
8. The husband finally agreed to have the planned tests OP had made a list of.
Via u/red_earaches
9. The couple had the tests and turns out the daughter isn’t OP’s either…what on Earth…
Via u/red_earaches
10. Everything turned upside down for this couple after realizing the baby they birthed and the one they took home isn’t the same. What happened to theirs?
Via u/red_earaches
11. This is so emotional. OP must’ve been feeling shattered.
Via u/red_earaches
12. The couple does not want their daughter to know about the truth…or anyone. Not yet.
Via u/red_earaches
13. I don’t that is how it will work, OP. If you do manage to find the real family, they want their daughter to be theirs. No one likes sharing daughters.
Via u/red_earaches
14. OP sounds so confused and in terrible shock. She doesn’t know what she must do or what she is doing.
Via u/red_earaches
15. A lot has to be considered before the daughter is told the truth.
Via u/red_earaches
Another update was added to the story by OP:
16. The husband wanted to share his side of the story with the internet.
Via u/red_earaches
Here’s what the husband had to say:
17. All the comments and the failed tests really stressed the husband out.
Via u/red_earaches
18. One can only be sure of facts. This was an assumption.
Via u/red_earaches
19. I personally believe this is the biggest mistake OP made. He forced himself into such a hole that was all about wives cheating on husbands and husbands losing their everything.
Via u/red_earaches
20. But his wife took it too. He must understand that her test came back negative too and neither of them biologically own the daughter.
Via u/red_earaches
21. I sense so much bias in this point of view.
Via u/red_earaches
22. The husband wanted to know the truth and so did the wife. But the approaches are so different.
Via u/red_earaches
23. That’s the thing, husband. You shouldn’t have allowed your brain to store the words that got put in your ear…everything about your wife cheating on you.
Via u/red_earaches
24. Accusing your wife of cheating because your test came negative is beyond “anger”.
Via u/red_earaches
This is beyond me, man. I feel so emotionally stressed just by reading this whole event. So much to take in. This family needs to start therapy sessions as soon as possible because this is no joke. There is so much in this that is going to take so long to absorb. I am glad the husband finally understood that his wife hadn’t cheated on him but is it too late now? Relationships rest on a very thin thread and it takes very little for that thread to break.
I just hope the couple manages to find the truth about their biological daughter and they also find the real parents of their daughter. Oh and yes, the girl must also be told the truth. Maybe not now, but they must tell her the truth.
I really hope you guys found this one interesting. Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
