Raising another human being is not easy.
Especially if you are not done growing up yourself yet. Our parents might make it look easy with us but it honestly ‘takes a village’ to raise a child. That is exactly the kind of support you can’t provide when you are a teenager who is dependant on their family for everything.
I understand that parents always want to be there for their children and help them in any way possible but the kid should know not to take advantage of this generosity.
So when this daughter (who is only 17) assumed that her mother would be taking care of her child, she was in for a rude awakening.
It already seems like a bad situation.
If she wants to keep the bay she should’ve had a plan.
It’s her decision and she has to live with the consequences.
Kids might be adorable but it isn’t all flowers and rainbows.
It is not fair to the parents for the daughter to assume everything.
Pretty much a back and forth for a bit that lead me to believe that if she has this baby in this house, I’m practically going to be its mother.
I’m very recently retired and my husband is retiring in exactly 11 months (there’s a countdown) and this is not how I want to spend my retirement years. It’s not fair to us.
And that sounds like you are helping her without enabling her.
As you can tell this is a complicated situation. And it depends upon the person’s point of view.
Another pregnant teenager might side with the daughter while a parent might side with the mother here. However, one thing is for sure, it is a sucky situation overall.
Most people agree that the mother is not the one in the wrong here.
It is her choice.
She is definitely very naive to think her parents will do all the work.
Nothing should be expected of the parents here.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to have a child. However, that is a human life that you are bringing into this world and they deserve to have a good life.
Which the daughter can’t provide if she doesn’t learn how to be responsible for her own actions.
Other people with similar experiences chimed in as well.
The birth father is not really in the wrong either.
What do you think about this complicated issue? Do you think the mother is an a**hole for wanting to kick out her pregnant daughter? Let us know in the comments.
