Raising kids is a workout.
Not a day goes by when a parent doesn’t speak of the challenges parenting brings. No matter what age your child is, you have to look after him/her and that includes the trouble that the entity causes. Not every parent is privileged to hire a babysitter or to get a helping hand from a relative or someone you trust, even if the parent had a helping hand, it would still be to the point of “work”, the emotions of the child are still to be rightfully understood and worked upon by none other than the parents of that child.
Those who are privileged to hire a babysitter to a nanny for their children must fully understand that the person whose services they are taking should be respected for the effort they are putting in, so they must not be mistreated no matter what. After all, that person is there to help ease the stress from your shoulders so you shouldn’t burden them more than what they are tasked to do. Those who have always had a helping hand helping with the burden on those shoulders, often ignore the true significance of those hands.
In today’s story, we have a mother who has always had respect in her heart for people who work very hard to win their bread and she has taught her children to respect such people as well. The mom is well off as her husband’s family is wealthy and the husband himself is a good person. She is very grateful to be part of such a caring family and she likes to let her kids know very well that people who work hard to improve their quality of life are an inspiration and should be cared for. Unfortunately, this mother who taught her children such great values had an “I am a failure” moment when her daughter decided to disrespect her nanny.
The mom, however, didn’t her daughter to get away with the disrespectful behavior because that would allow her to reinforce it later, so she decided to punish her in the best way possible. A punishment that would teach her a lesson for life.
Being a mother full of lovely emotions for her children, the mother was a bit confused as to whether she was right or wrong for punishing her daughter. So the matter was taken by her to the sacred community of AITA to decide if she was an AH or was NTA.

OP was NTA. Yes, the term “punishment” does come across as something very harsh and crazy, but if you read what those punishments were, it shows that the purpose was only to make their daughter respect other people, and to let her know nothing should be taken for granted. Good job on that!
