There is no progressive phase in life where responsibilities don’t increase. As we keep growing, the responsibilities on our shoulders increase as well with every entry made into the next chapter of life. It starts with schooling, moving to higher education, then comes the job, and marriage, and then there also exists a phase that every person wants to enter; the phase of parenting. Probably the only phase with the most number of responsibilities on your shoulder at the same time.
In today’s story, we have an irresponsible pregnant woman whose mother kept making unsuccessful efforts to kick some sense into her daughter. Reddit user u/GlitteringMud9950 shared that her daughter, Rita, announced she was pregnant 20 weeks into her pregnancy. Rita decided to move in with her parents. OP’s big issue revolved around Rita having no sense of responsibility whatsoever. She would behave like a little baby and would start crying every time OP made an attempt to let her know she had to grow up and become a woman.
Rita’s immature behavior concerned OP a lot as she had no idea what to do in order to make her daughter responsible.

2. After telling her parents she is 20 weeks pregnant, OP’s daughter moved in with her mum and dad.
3. Rita and her boyfriend mutually decided to go all the way with the pregnancy and have the baby.
4. The issue with Rita, as shared by OP, is that she does absolutely nothing. She is a very irresponsible woman.
5. Whenever OP tries talking some sense into her, she starts crying and streaming. OP has to stop because she doesn’t want Rita to get stressed resulting in issues for the baby in her tummy.
6. OP tried many times to make Rita aware that she was going to become a mother and that it was time she finally got serious about life…but it would never work.
7. OP told Rita the baby was going to be hers and that she and her boyfriend should prepare themselves to look after it.
Honestly, I am just seeing a really concerned mother. Parents cannot look after their grandchildren. I mean, they love doing it but they cannot do it forever. Ultimately, the child is the parent’s responsibility. That’s how the social order works. Rita shouldn’t have gotten pregnant in the first place if she knew she was not going to take up the responsibility. I think she has no idea what is going to hit her. Her and her boyfriend’s decision to keep the baby may not turn out to be the best decision they took.
Oh, and by the way, the way Rita starts screaming and crying whenever the topic of responsibility is touched is kind of concerning. Her reaction makes me wonder if maybe she is going through some mental health scenarios. Who knows!

10. OP was clear. She loves her daughter but that doesn’t mean she will take care of her forever like a child. She needs to grow up.
11. Rita called her mother an AH for the way she was trying to “turn her back” on her grandchild. OP took the matter to the courts of the AITA community to know if wanting her pregnant daughter to be responsible was the right demand or not.
