The big eyes are synonymous with Disney.
I know it isn’t only Disney movies that animate their characters with huge eyes but mainstream audiences have become used to Disney doing that. If we look back, we can see that their earlier animations had quite normal looking eye sizes but that doesn’t seem to be the case with their new movies. While it is much more usual to see big eyes in anime, Disney does it a lot with movies like Tangled and Frozen.
I suppose it is a way to make their characters look much more expressive and also adorable. It makes sense that it isn’t as if they do motion capture for their animated movies so the only way to show minute expressions on their characters is by making the eyes much bigger than humanly possible. And that is where Snapchat comes in. I am sure all of us know about the famous Snapchat filter which turns you into a Disney-like cartoon character.

While I love most of the movies and shows on this list, I can’t help but imagine these movies in a Disney universe. I wonder how different they would have been if they were animated by Disney rather than having live actors. I guess in an alternate universe, Home Alone was an animated feature but we may never know.
