Entitled Neighbour Doesn’t Like It When Redditor Uses Their Own Garden, Gets Put In Place

Entitled Neighbour

Entitled neighbours feel the need to always get their way.

Some entitled people have the audacity to prevent others from doing what they want in their own homes. Moreover, entitlement can manifest in a variety of ways, but when it extends to invading others’ personal space and autonomy, it becomes an especially serious problem. Furthermore, some people believe that their own desires and preferences are more important than respecting the boundaries and rights of others, even within their own homes. This behaviour not only demonstrates a lack of empathy and consideration for others but also emphasises the power dynamics at work in interpersonal relationships. This is especially common among neighbours.

I am sure we have all dealt with entitled neighbours who believe they have the right to dictate what you can and cannot do in your own home at any time of day. Now, I’m not saying that the neighbours don’t have the right to come forward and politely ask you to stop making so much noise, but what happens in the following story is entirely different. The neighbour of the story’s original poster (OP) not only refuses to train his dog but also forbids OP from using their own garden. I don’t know about you, but this is just crazy talk. What sane person would consider this a reasonable request? Well, this isn’t the only insane request the neighbour has made of OP.

There are crazy people everywhere, but neighbours who have the audacity to demand things are few and far between.

OP lives beside a neighbour with a loud dog who is clearly not trained and barks at anything he sees.

OP also got a dog and recently started training the dog while also making sure that they weren’t causing any problems for the neighbours.

Only a few months after OP got their dog, the neighbour demanded that OP stop using the garden so much as it upsets his dog and him.

Things only got worse from there, and the neighbour now has a problem with everything OP does and thinks that throwing verbal ab*se OP’s way is perfectly fine.

OP tried to find a peaceful solution to all the drama and explained that they were only trying to train the dog.

However, the neighbour is unwilling to listen to reason, so OP decided to ask Redditors for any advice they could give.

If I were in OP’s shoes, I would tell the neighbour to stuff himself. After all, he doesn’t get to tell me what I can and cannot do in my own home. However, his interactions make it appear that he will not listen to reason and may become vi*lent if spoken to in this manner, so I am not sure if being brutally honest would be the best way to resolve this issue.

If the OP wants this problem to go away quietly, the best solution would be to install a security camera so that he cannot do anything nefarious. At the end of the day, he needs to train his own dog and stop interfering with other people’s business.

It is the neighbour’s responsibility to train his dog.

OP needs to take safety measures so the neighbour doesn’t do anything drastic.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the neighbour tried something like that.

That is true, but he doesn’t sound too bright.

Exactly! How does he think that this is appropriate behaviour?

It is the neighbour’s problem, and he needs to deal with it.

But judging by his previous actions, I would say this approach wouldn’t really work.

But who would have the patience to constantly listen to a narcissistic neighbour?

I am not at all surprised that he can’t be reasoned with.

I feel sorry for the neighbour’s pets.

As a cat person, I can 100% relate to this.

My kitty is way too much of a scaredy cat to do any of this.

While it would be funny, it wouldn’t be a great idea.
