Redditor Blocks His Driveway That Everyone Commonly Used, Neighbors Involves Police Into It

There’s a no doubt that a strong, albeit strange, bond is present between people and their possessions. Our houses have become our sanctuaries and safe places, and the same applies to the area around it. We fight to keep them in shape since they’re our haven from the hustle-bustle of the world outside. Having peace and privacy in our safe space is highly desirable but our peace could mean little to people around us, such as our neighbors. That’s when it’s crucial to take action to protect yourself, as our OP of today did in this Reddit AITA story. Scroll to read the full story!

#1) Is OP in the wrong for this?

#2) OP confirms that he’s legally in the right here since he bought a property whose driveway was used by the locals and built a house on it.

#3) OP has a big driveway and a lot of people would use it as a shortcut, enough that it became a problem for OP.

#4) OP put up a sign but that didn’t stop anyone either, so he installed private gates.

#5) Numerous people complained about OP building the gate, including the police.

#6) The police said OP was obstructing their work and everyone else is just as upset about this.

OP’s stance is irrefutable here and absolutely nothing can be said to argue with it. It’s his property, and he has full rights to stop people from using it as a shortcut. So, regardless of how problematic the situation turns out to be for them and their daily transport, they should try and adapt. It’s genuinely shocking how certain people act so entitled, so easily. Coming to OP’s house to complaint about him not letting them park in his driveway, of all places… is beyond my understanding. Let’s see what other Reddit users thought about the situation:

#9) The town should have purchased it if it was that important.

#10) The cops were so wrong for that and then to come and complain to OP’s face? Wild.

#11) Hope people begin f**king off after more signs are posted.

#12) It’s completely on the town, not OP.

#13) Thankfully, OP has confirmed with his lawyer that the property fully belongs to him.

#14) The fence is the best idea yet.

#15) That would be hilarious.

#16) They had their chance.

#17) OP is completely valid for want some peace and quiet in his own home.

#18) I don’t think so.

#19) That’s an important thing to consider.

#20) They might try to sue OP even.
