Person Finally Has To Pick Up A Free Lawn Mower After The Hardware Store Insists They Come And Get It

This guy was forced to maliciously comply.

How many times have you been offered a product by a store to pick up? Quite a few times, I mean that’s what salespersons do, right? But have you been offered a product to collect without you purchasing it? Now that’s a new one. No business would be dumb enough to distribute free products unless they’ve really lost it in the head. But it happens and we have got an amazing story for you guys to prove it.

Reddit user Die_Ringer shared a story that involves a pretty good lawn mower and multiple calls from the hardware store to pick that lawn mower up. OP went to a store to purchase a lawn mower. They selected one and asked the employee to set it aside as they would be returning in 30 minutes or so with a truck to collect the product. And that’s exactly what happened. Now, a normal person would think the story ends here and the story should’ve ended here but it didn’t.

2 weeks later OP started receiving calls from the same hardware store to come and collect their lawn mower as it was ready for delivery. No explanation for OP made them understand the situation as they just kept calling him to collect the mower. Ultimately, OP maliciously complied with what they kept asking him to do and got himself a free lawn mower.

2. OP chose a lawn power that they wanted to purchase. It was a display model that they asked the store to set aside and wait till he gets his truck to pick it up.

3. OP returned with their truck, purchased the lawn mower, and returned home. And that was that.

4. Now this is interesting. They sold a mower to OP but also created an order for a new one that had arrived at the store and was ready for pickup.

5. OP decided to be a good person and cleared all the confusion up.

6. A week later, OP started receiving calls to pick the mower up again. They decided if they receive another call, they will seize the opportunity.

7. And OP received the call!

8. OP has no receipt to prove that they paid for this mower that they had to pick up so they were still wondering how it all would play out.

This is absolutely amazing. I mean, they didn’t leave OP with any option at all. Even though he did manage to clear everything just two weeks after getting the first lawn mower, the calls never stopped. If Apple keeps bugging me to pick up a fully paid iPhone 14 Pro Max, and they keep calling me to get it every week, you bet your butt I will go to that store no matter much the transportation costs me and get that phone. No one wants to reject free stuff. And in OP’s case, it was just malicious compliance.

Let’s see how the story further unfolds. Will there actually be a lawn mower waiting to be picked up for free? Or is this all some big joke?

14. OP then decided to give their first mower away for free to a friend who had helped him a lot. That’s sweet.

15. A win-win situation.

16. They would’ve felt bad had OP not come to receive the mower. If anything, he made the store feel good.
