Pets require a lot of attention.

It is because we are the only person who feeds them, takes them on walks and provides all the social interaction. It is not as if they can find these things outside. That is why one should think very carefully before committing themself to get a pet. However, animals have very unique ways of hogging all the attention. And I am sure you have read stories where a person gives their partner an ultimatum to choose between their pet and them.

While that ultimatum is pretty dumb, there is a reason that sort of thing happens. You see, parents might say they don’t have a favorite child while having one, animals make it pretty clear who they love the most. And will do anything to keep humans that they don’t like away from them. Why they do this is beyond me. Perhaps they don’t like the smell or want their human to pay attention to only them.

Pets can actually become quite possessive so these pictures are not a lie. It is especially true if a pet is used to living alone. So when another person comes into the picture, they sometimes perceive it as a threat. Because as I said before, they always want all the attention on themselves and another person being there can put a serious wrench in things.

However, in time they can learn to love the other person too.
