Photographer Tracks Down People He Photographed 40 Years Ago To Recreate Their Same Photos

When photos are captured, they may not be as valuable as they become a few years later. They save the moment, feelings and sentiments in it that we shared at the time it was taken. When we want to look back in time, we often see the old pictures taken. And all of a sudden we’re flooded with memories and emotions that we had closed up in a box inside our heads. Whether they are with our siblings, parents, friends or the love of our lives, they are a reminder of how blessed are we to have these people in our life. However, sometimes it is a memory of a good time we spent with someone who isn’t here to share more happy moments like those. An old lover, an ex-best friend or a departed soul. Sometimes we wish we could recreate those pictures and re-live those memories.

This photographer named Chris Porsz also known as “paramedic paparazzo” wandering around the streets of Peterborough, eastern England took photos of passersby from all walks of life in the late ’70s and ’80s. After almost 3 decades he traced all those people in the pictures he took 40 years back and convinced them in recreating those photos. Scroll down and take a look.

Some of these photos taken 40 years ago are now just memories of happy times and beautiful playful moments people shared, as they are either no longer together or aren’t present among us anymore. Where there were heartbreaks and mourning tears, there were also some happy tears and excitement of seeing each other after a long time. The photographer said:

“I don’t think anyone else has tracked down so many strangers and recreated photos in this way before,” He further added, it was “tenacious detective work, meticulous planning and, often, unbelievable coincidences. It has been enormously satisfying to do so many reunions and seeing the smiles on people’s faces as they met up with old friends again. I’ve felt very privileged.”

Still the same.

Chris Porsz along with the writer Jo Riley has also published his work with the title “Reunions”. As in the process to complete this project, there were so many unexpected reunions and so many new memories were made. In that book, all the pictures from this project are published along with their stories. These pictures are so raw and represent the true essence of life. These pictures unveil the side of life that is usually not seen on social media. It’s not very glamorous but it’s still very captivating. All these smiles are genuine, no one is faking anything.
