Despite OP and her mom’s strained history, my mom and OP recently had breakfast near her place due to her work. She displays “Karen” behavior at restaurants: demanding changes, sending back food, tipping below 15%, and challenging menu prices. At one eatery, she custom orders a sandwich without certain ingredients, sometimes receiving a $3 discount. During a recent visit, she expected the discount despite her order being regular price. The manager intervened, refusing the discount due to her attitude toward the staff. OP felt embarrassed and wanted to leave as she continued to argue. Now, she believes OP should have supported her, while OP views this incident as a necessary realization of her inappropriate behavior.
