Birthday is a special occasion every person waits for, for their own specific reason.
Some people anxiously wait for their birthday to get the gift they had been eyeing for quite some time and slowly feed it to their parents. While others wait for this day to reflect upon the sweet and tough memories that were part of the journey that brought them where they are today. So yes, that makes birthday a very important of the year, every year, even though people say “Oh, we don’t celebrate it”. We don’t always have to cut a cake for a birthday to be good. It can be just sitting together with those who you love and having some quality time together.
As mentioned above, one of the ways people show their love to the birthday boy/girl is by bringing them gifts.
In today’s story, we have got a Redditor user who got gifted a cute little puppy for his 22nd birthday by his mother and siblings. Who wouldn’t want a puppy as a gift, right? Well, not this soon-to-be-22 Redditor because this story, as shared by him, was posted on the subreddit “Am I The A$$hole?“, so you know something is up.
The son hadn’t really celebrated their birthday properly in quite some time and hadn’t received any special gifts either so this year, his family decided they had to get him something special, something he could cherish forever. And just so it doesn’t result in an absolute failure, they decided to run the gift by their son just so they don’t end up getting him something he doesn’t like. Upon asking, he responded by saying he would like a puppy. So that’s what the family did. They got him a puppy…and he probably wasn’t expecting they would actually get him one.

The comment you guys just read is basically my opinion on this as well. I would first like to declare OP a big as*hole for running away from his responsibility. And why do I say this? That’s because the family was kind enough to ask him what sort of gift he would like so they could actually get him something that adds value. There he said a puppy would be a great gift. And then upon being gifted the puppy, the accepted it as his pet. That’s the biggest factor here. You don’t rehome your responsibility once you have accepted it. That’s like being a di*k to an animal who came to you to start a new chapter in life, leaving everything behind. And you decide to give no sh*ts? I am mad at this guy!
