Put yourself in the paws of a super adorable dog, and the heart-wrenching and helpless feeling you must feel seeing that everyone around you is getting adopted except you? Imagine how rejected you must feel not knowing what it is about you that does not appeal to adopters. Every day you would hope that one day you would finally find a home in the arms of your new parents, but days and weeks go by, and you still do not have a home.
This is what this adorable and lovable pitbull dog named Rush, went through in his time. He felt helpless and could not understand what is keeping people away from him. The feelings of being rejected had put down Rush so much, that he had lost all hope. Any dog as loving and cuddly as Rush would assume that everyone else also possesses the same amount of goodness inside their heart and would not hesitate to adopt them. But it was never enough for those picking dogs for adoption.
This hurtful period ended eventually when SISCA Pet Adoption Center took responsibility for him and ensured that he does not see more days of loneliness. Rush was not aware of what it felt to be loved and cared for, that he is worthy of all the affection he saw other dogs receiving from humans. We are going to tell you the story of Rush, his past, and how he eventually got adopted by the most affectionate couple ever!
Being a cuddly fellow and affectionate towards humans, eager to be adopted, Rush believed it won’t take long for someone to adopt him. After all, that is what humans want, right? A loving and energetic dog who is also well disciplined. But after seeing other dogs getting adopted again and again and him getting rejected, he realized it would be a long struggle.
People usually have the wrong impression that Pit-bulls are aggressive and violent, given their bad rap sheet. This stops them from adopting a pit bull. However, in this case, these people were completely mistaken. Rush is the opposite of the impression others hold of him. You can’t judge a dog just by looking at his pictures. Especially when people already have your bad reputation presumed, it becomes even more difficult for them to pick you. They would rather choose another dog that gives a more friendly vibe. This prompted Rush to work harder to ensure he gets adopted. He was not ready to give up!
One day, a change in Rush’s behavior left the caretakers at the shelter stunned. They saw Rush making his bed all by himself. They noticed how he had started cleaning his place and fixing it on his own. They realized how unique was this behaviour and made a video of him doing this. The video depicted how Rush moved his blanket around on his own.
“[Rush] makes his bed every day at an animal shelter while he waits for a family to adopt him,” SICSA wrote on Facebook. “He’s been waiting for over 30 days.”
Rush’s distinct behavior finally caught attention after the shelter workers at SICSA posted the video online. The video on you-tube gained over million views. This led to a celebration post on Facebook by SICSA. They posted this adorable picture of Rush posted below!
Right after this video blew up on the internet, SICSA was approached by many agencies, wanting to feature Rush. They advertised how Pit-bulls are ideal pets.
“There are a lot of negative stereotypes about the American pit bull. If we were able to highlight the cute cuddly points of Rush, then we can help people look beyond the pit bull label,” Nora Vondrell, executive director of SICSA, Ohio, told ABC News.
After the successful features of Rush, just after some time Rush was adopted by the most affectionate pet lovers.
The couple made a heartfelt video on how they had lost their beloved dog earlier that year. It was a hard time for them which made it difficult for them to move on and adopt a new baby, but after seeing Rush’s video and his heartwarming story, they were touched. They were eager to adopt him right-away after discussing among themselves. They drove to SICSA right after the husband came back from work to check Rush’s availability and were excited to see that he was ready as ever to be adopted into their loving arms!
This touching story of Rush has reached many hearts, and everyone felt elated to know that he was finally adopted.
