Pocahontas was filled with mistakes (7/10)

1 min 0

Although Pocahontas is based on a young Native American woman in history, the animated film is not at all accurate to the real person. The war between both the Native Americans and the European invaders is simply put to an end by romance in the film.

Disney would need to totally revise and reconstruct the plot in order to replicate this historical account in an accurate manner. A remake would have to remove the problematic romance and the romanticization of European invasion, even if there is no simple way to show the murder and enslavement of Indigenous people for a suitable children’s film.
