Modern Viewers Have Found The Fox And The Hound Sexist (6/10)

A strange friendship is the subject of the melancholy tale The Fox and the Hound. The fox was let to live in the wild, while the dog was kept inside his owner’s house as the story naturally ended. However, the female supporting characters are what really make the movie troublesome. The fierce and fearless elderly woman who takes Todd in is never given a name. She is just referred to as “Widow” instead.

Additionally, many have brought up how Amos Slade refers to the elderly woman as “female” in a disrespectful and hateful manner. Vixey, the female fox, motivates Todd to remain in the wild. Although The Fox And The Hound’s message is commendable, a new version would give Disney the opportunity to enhance how women are portrayed.
