I’m not surprised that this person is leaving. If I were in their shoes, I would do the same. It is one thing not to be promoted. After all, it may be painful, but you may simply not be qualified for the new position. However, the fact that they were told to train the new hire renders this observation false. So they were obviously qualified, but they didn’t get the job. I’m curious why they didn’t hire an internal employee.
