Son Broke HIs Ankle, Father Told Him He Deserved It

broken ankle

During our teenage, our hobbies change very frequently. If the kid has developed an interest in reading novels, three months later he/she would want to take pictures of nature, and three months after that they would want to become a hairdresser. That is how dynamically the hobbies change. And to be honest, I believe the parents should support their children as much as they can, while still managing the boundary lines set. If you do not have the budget to help your kid enjoy their hobby, let him/her know in a soft tone, if you do not like a hobby they developed, again there are better ways of letting them know about it instead of lashing at them or making them feel bad about it.

In today’s story, Reddit user u/brokenankledad shared that his middle child, Isaac, developed a love for football and he would play with any round object he would find in the house. OP didn’t like this newly found hobby of Isaac’s because he would cause trouble in the house. One day Isaac decided to play football with OP’s weights, which were pretty heavy, and as he kicked it, his ankle broke.

OP then confronted Isaac calling him st*pid and telling him he fully deserved the broken ankle. Yes, his own father.

YTA. This is so out of order. Who tells their own child that them breaking their ankle is a good thing? So insensitive! Even if he did want to make such a terrible comment, he at least should have waited till his ankle got healed.

Poor kid, Isaac, should have been told about his mistake in a polite manner. Besides, OP never supported his newly developed hobby of playing football, so he is probably happy that Isaac won’t be playing it again for a month at the least.

Here’s what the internet had to say about this:

9. That really was too much.

12. This Redditor said Isaac was old enough to understand you are not supposed to kick heavy items like that, but the father’s choice of words was in no way acceptable.

13. Aggression only makes them want to rebel. Always. If he kicks another weight, that is all on you, OP.

14. Sure, tell him he did a very dumb thing that day but stop there, no need to go further.
